Averner Films is an award-winning production team led by Dublin-born brothers, Director Alex Verner and Producer Joel Verner. We’re a trusted filmmaking partner for globally recognized brands and broadcasters, consistently delivering emotive and visually powerful content across both traditional documentary formats and commercial projects.

Recently, our critically acclaimed documentary Christy Brown: Self Portrait, featuring Saoirse Ronan, captivated audiences and was celebrated as a landmark work on RTÉ, deepening the cultural narrative around one of Ireland’s most complex artists.

Alex Verner

Having started his career in the wilds of Southern Africa working on blue chip natural history productions for National Geographic and BBC, Alex is now an award winning Director/DP specialising in high-end Documentary filmmaking for both broadcast and digital release.
In a nutshell, you could say Alex specialises in Arts, Martial Arts and Artificial Intelligence. He regularly collaborates with with literary titan Colm Tóibín, he’s a recurring Director for UFC’s premiere ‘Countdown’ show and has worked on ground breaking A.I. content in conjunction with Audi and Imperial College London, leading to a published and credited paper in the world-renowned scientific journal ‘Nature’.

Producer
With over a decade of experience in producing high-end branded content, commercials and documentaries - Joel comes from a background in marketing and corporate affairs in London’s luxury sector. Whether short or long-form content, ‘JV’ is trusted by broadcast heavyweights such as Nat Geo, BBC, RTÉ and globally recognised brands including the UFC, Formula E, Harrods, Charge Automotive, Audi and many more.
